CPTs in Hythe
We were asked to complete a two day project in Hythe on the south coast. The site was found to be very boggy, so Boris (CPT002) was deployed due to its wide tracks allowing it to access all positions without getting stuck in the soft ground.
This project required the completion of 34 CPTs over a three day period. We were asked to push to a minimum depth of 10 metres; some tests went as deep as 20 metres.
The 200 acre site, a back filled quarry, is to be turned into a housing estate comprising of 1500 homes. The ground was found to be layers of stiff clay, silt and dense sand which was outlined for our client in our detailed report.
