The DMT '15 Conference in Rome, Italy
The Technical Committee TC-102 of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), the Italian Geotechnical Society (AGI) in cooperation with L’Aquila University organized the 3rd International Conference on the Flat Dilatometer DMT’15 in Roma (Italy), on 14th – 16th of June 2015.
In Situ SI participated in this conference, and presented the results of our research work on liquefaction potential analysis by using CPTU and SDMT data.
The conference included lots of interesting topics related to site investigations importance on Geotechnical Engineering problems solving, such as: settlement prediction, detection and characterization of liquefiable layers, tailings dams parameters and analysis, compaction control, using a combination of CPTU and SDMT to estimate parameters and performance, detecting slip surfaces in slopes, laterally loaded piles, diaphragm walls design, FEM input parameters, shear wave velocity and earthquake resistant design, offshore execution of DMT, etc.
More than 100 engineers, consultants, geologists, researchers, professors and students from all over the world participated in the event, and shared their knowledge and experience about the site investigation, especially on CPTU and SDMT testing techniques and results. A training course on DMT and SDMT was organized before the opening ceremony of the conference, where students, engineers and consultants had the opportunity to learn in detail about the equipments, testing procedures, data acquisition system, data processing and several geotechnical calculations based on DMT and SDMT data. An exhibition on DMT, SDMT and Seafloor was included in the conference program, where all the participants had the opportunity to use the equipment, to check the data taken in site and to learn how to use the data on settlements prediction and liquefaction analyses.
