In Situ's Course on Advanced Uses of CPT Data
On 29th September 2015, In Situ held its first ever course on ‘Advanced uses of CPT data’. We were privileged to welcome our two guest speakers, John Powell, associate at the BRE and Tom Lunne, technical expert at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, who are two of the three authors of ‘Cone Penetration Testing in Geotechnical practice’. They shared their considerable exprtise, alongside our very own MD Darren Ward.
Over 70 people turned up to learn about the information that can be obtained from CPT data, focusing primarily on deriving parameters in sand and clay, and direct geotechnical design from the CPT.
We had one of our CPT crawlers on site for guests to explore and a video cone demonstration where clients could see one of the advances of cone technology in action.
It really was a successful day; the talks were very interesting and the hands on practical demonstrations were very useful (not to mention sandwiches fit for a King!).
We are hoping to hold several more courses next year in various locations across the country on CPTs and pressuremeters. Please email course@insitusi.com if you are interested in attending any of these future events.
If you missed the course in person, or didn’t get a chance ot watch via the Live Feed on Periscope, here is a link to the course content: ‘The Advanced Uses of CPT Data – an In Situ SI Course’
