Back to School for In Situ SI
At In Situ we pride ourselves on our lunch time presentations where we get the chance to talk about CPTs and demonstrate our technology’s capabilities. Normally, there would be 10-20 people present and only half of them were there for the free lunch! But at this presentation, things were very different. It was in front of 3 classes of 8 and 9 year olds at a local primary school in East Sussex. We were kindly asked to contribute to the ‘Rocks and Soils’ part of the curriculum taught at the school.
Darren Ward or ‘Darren the Geologist’ as he is now known, went in to talk to the children. The classes were shown different types of rocks and talked about where they came from and what they could be used for. They were also physically shown (much to their delight) how soil is created and lots of willing ‘Junior Geologist’ volunteers couldn’t wait to get their hands dirty!
Each session was finished off by going outside and viewing one of our CPT trucks. The children were shown how it works and what it does; although they found the fact that the truck could lift itself off the wheels and into the air the most interesting part!
